It can be said that greatness is deserved by virtue of hard work.  Google has proved that both hard work and a considerable investment produces greatness.  This has been the bane of all web designers trying to monetize a web site.  Google AdSense is the King of monetizing websites.  Many alternatives have entered the advertising online space.

The list below is a partial list of some of the alternatives available for web designers and Internet Marketeers.  I have personally only used a handful of the companies listed below.  My experience has shown that while some are very good at creating wealth, they pale in comparison to AdSense.

I encourage you to give some of them a try.  While they will most likely not generate the income that AdSense produces, they are all viable and important in keeping competition alive in the advertising world.    Some other factors to consider when choosing an ad serving program is the specific need.  What I mean by that is that the ads generally shown by AdSense are closely related to the topic in which you are writing about.  This could be a great thing or not so good.

If you are creating content in which you don’t want someone to possibly click on an ad to a competitor then AdSense might not be for you.  Most of the others do not serve ads that are too close to the topic of specific page.  Some such as AdBrite will just serve advertising that the advertisers in the network want to show.  In other words, you don’t have too much say in what is showed.  This means that you could have a topic on Travel and AdBrite might serve advertisements on your page about Insurance or Weight Loss.

Don’t discount these ads.  Some people actually might be interested in those subjects and at least the click will not send the reader to a competitor!
